Northwest Airlines and beyond - Nicholas Bredimus
Are you aware of how many advances in computer software have totally redesigned air travel and hospitality ? The man to thank is New Jersey’s favorite son Nicholas Bredimus. This resourceful man has been involved in several areas, from the high value home design market through the essentials of air safety and computer programs to save time.
You could have predicted, though, that with his family history he was certain to reach the top. Traceable all the way into ancient history and Nicholas’ ancestry ties in with much of Europe. From his mother’s side, for example, he boasts German and Scottish origins. His father’s family, however, were born in present day Luxembourg and England, which is where they subsequently came to the United States from in the late nineteenth century.
After arriving in America, the line still strove to rise up the social ladder. Born one of seven siblings - four girls and three boys - Nicholas was blessed with a father employed as a mechanical design engineer and a mother who worked as a nurse. He went on to dwell in Texas for a number of years and also spent time in Kansas City, MO, Reston, VA and Scottsdale, AZ.
Nicholas has stepped up to the challenge of prestigious posts for businesses throughout the air travel sector - the majority of them big names. Republic Airlines, Hughes Airwest, Trans World Airlines (TWA) - these businesses would all at various times appoint him their Vice President. But above all the airline industry has felt the need to be grateful for the work he has done in software design. His outstanding work on aircraft maintenance management programs, now used throughout the airline business though originally produced for one specific firm, led to what is surely his most used piece. He would look next at recording and taking reservations. For both hotels and air travel he pioneered software to offset the bulk of the work that had been involved until automation. He went on to develop an industry specific system termed QuikTix, an automatic ticket ordering network.
Mr Nicholas Bredimus employed these achievements to move into capacities not at all tied to software design. Nicholas worked as manager for American Express’ prestigious IT wing, founded Bredimus Systems, and became the first president of American Airlines’ AMR Travel Services.
At the time of writing, though, Mr Nicholas Bredimus has departed from his airline connections and from programming, though rest assured he’s still making use of his mind. He’s at work now advancing architecture - mixing the requirements of esthetics with true environmental interests.
