Samsung and Netflix Partnership
For anyone who has a Samsung Blu Ray player and wondered what the Ethernet port on the back was for, then there could be some good news. Sure it can be used for updating profiles and even downloading the odd ringtone every now and then, but the real purchase is so much better.
Samsung have signed an agreement with the online DVD rental firm Netflix and for owners of the BD P2500 and BD P2550 blu ray players they could soon have the ability to stream movies straight into their home TV’s.
Naturally the user is going to have to sign up to Netflix, which is a slight problem as it is not yet available in the UK, but we live in hope! Hopefully something can be done about this, or alternatively Samsung could strike a deal with another provider such as LoveFilm who are UK based and offer a similar service as Netflix.
Netflix offer free updates of up and coming films. This has to be downloaded but once it is active the user will get instant access to any film on the list. No doubt this technology will eventually find its way into a lot of Samsung’s products as they are released.
It is still a shame that a service like this is not available yet in the UK.
